I am running XP Pro Media Edition

I have rec'd a word document as an attachment to OE, which has a photo in
it. How do I save / copy that photo into "My pictures" or somewhere else
that I can work with it?

Open up the document in word.
Right-click on the Picture you want to save.
Choose "copy".
Close Word (you will be asked if you want to keep the picture on the
clipboard - say yes)

Open any graphics program (MS Photo Editor, for example)
On the toolbar choose "edit" and "paste as new image"
The picture will now be available in your graphics program.

Go to file and then to "save as" and save in whatever format choices are
available to you.
