How do I restore the MBR when it gets messed up ? I am using Win XP Pro on
Gateway 9310xl. Where can I get directions for using the repair tools
available in
XP, especially the repair console ?

Here all the Info you want to know about the MBR and how to rebuild it and
other useful commands with the Recovery console:

Nass, you and any number of other "experts" who reply to questions keep
saying: "Go to the correct newsgroup." Well, where is a list of these
"proper" newsgroups? The list at the left of this screen is no help in that
regard. If there is a newsgroups for MBR, where could a user find it?

Thank you.

Hi Abeesgram,

I really didn't mean the MBR exact Issue but in General, you don't need to
ask a question about a Virus Infestation in the Media Group while you want to
clean up and get yourself sorted!.
By selecting the right group which relevant to your Question, you will get
a quick and Right Answer from an MVP or a User.
By this you eliminate any kind of wrongly misdiagnosing your issue,
therefore not hurting yourself (although the helper didn't mean any harm,
after all there is no warranty or responsibility to any one if you given the
wrong answer, luckily seldom).
I really don't mean tell OFF or I have the right to do so, but for the sake
and the benefit of the seekers for help and the Helpers and after all for
all of us.
Most people will ignore the Question if it is not relevant to the Newsgroup,
unless you have been lucky and somebody with the knowledge of your issue
chimed in and give you the right answer, but for how long you will be lucky
for that person to come in and give the right answer?.
dw5437 Question here was relevant to Basic NG.
