Hi

Try typing 'sndrec32' - without the quotes - from Start>Run. If that doesn't work, go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>Add/Remove Windows Components>Accessories and Utilities>Details>Accessories>Details. If Sound Recorder isn't checked, check it and then OK your way out.

You can create a Desktop shortcut to Sound Recorder with the following in the first box that appears after you have right-clicked the Desktop and selected New>Shortcut.

%SystemRoot%\System32\sndrec32.exe

Sound Recorder should come preloaded with Windows. If I'm not mistaken it is not a component that can be removed.

Installing(making shortcut) Sound Recorder:

1. start->search->For Files or Folders
2. (search all files)type in sndrec32.exe
3. if sndrec32.exe is found in search, right mouse click on it and drag it to wherever you wish to place the link. After you let go of the mouse button a submenu will popup--choose 'create shortcut here'
